- FY2009 state payroll data provided by the Illinois Office of the Comptroller. Data is current through December 31, 2008.
- Vendor expenditure data for the Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation, Department on Aging, and Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Human Resources, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and Department of Military Affairs provided by the Illinois Office of the Comptroller.
- Vendor expenditure data for all other departments provided by their respective FOIA officers.
- Expenses showing "$0" have been classified by their respective departments.
- State pension data for current members and retirees provided by the State Retirement System (SRS).
- Yearly pension payments to retirees calculated by multiplying monthly payout by 12.
- Years of service by retirees calculated by dividing months of services by 12 and rounding to the nearest whole integer.
- State employees without data in the Benefits column do receive benefits, however, their pension data was unavailable.
- Some vendor expenditure data exists for 2006, 2007, and 2008. The most complete data is for 2009, however, none of the totals should be interpreted as representative of the total dollars spent by Illinois state government.
